Data Platform Native AI Agent Tooling in 2026

This article surveys AI agent tooling offered by eleven major data platform vendors in 2026, including Dremio, Snowflake, Databricks, and others. It highlights the widespread adoption of Anthropic's Model Context Protocol (MCP) as the standard bridge between AI agents and enterprise data. Each platform's approach is detailed, from full agent authoring frameworks to MCP server endpoints and semantic layers. The article provides technical insights into how these tools enable building, deploying, and running AI agents on data, with a focus on Dremio's three integration paths (built-in AI agent, MCP server, CLI) and Snowflake's Cortex Agents and Snowflake Intelligence.
