GPUs Are Not a Cloud: Why Neoclouds Need Vendor Neutral AI Infrastructure Orchestration

This article argues that neoclouds, which start by selling GPU capacity, must evolve into platform businesses by implementing vendor-neutral AI infrastructure orchestration. It emphasizes that hardware inventory alone isn't enough; a cloud platform must manage secure, repeatable, tenant-aware services. The missing layer is orchestration software that accepts customer intent, provisions Kubernetes and supporting services, enforces isolation, manages accelerator lifecycle, and collects operational evidence. This approach creates a portable control plane over a hardware-aware data plane, enabling neoclouds to serve enterprise inference, regulated workloads, and sovereign AI programs effectively.
