PyTheory Playground

This article introduces PyTheory Playground, a web-based front end for the PyTheory music theory library. It allows users to explore chords, scales, and tunings interactively without installing anything. Features include guitar tab diagrams for multiple instruments, a real-time tuner with strobe wheel, chord identification, scale visualization, and a chord lab with temperament switching. The library supports Western modes, Hindustani rāgas, Arabic maqāmāt, and more. The article emphasizes the library's evolution from a Python package to a browser-accessible tool, highlighting its live server-side computation and integration with LilyPond engraving and Ableton sync.
