Downshift is a new React library that takes a different approach to building autocomplete, typeahead, and combobox components. Unlike other solutions, it uses the 'render prop' and 'controlled props' patterns, giving developers full control over rendering while handling complex state and accessibility (WAI-ARIA compliance) internally. This results in a simpler API, smaller bundle size, and greater flexibility.
