The Algorithm Poops

This article extends the author's series 'The Algorithm Eats' by exploring the metaphor of algorithmic digestion. It argues that social media feeds are not food but waste products, created when algorithms consume human attention, outrage, and loyalty. The feed is processed human consciousness, stripped of meaning and excreted back for re-consumption. The essay examines how this cycle depletes culture and reality, describing the recommendation loop as digital coprophagia. It accounts for what the algorithm produces: depleted versions of virtue, language, and democracy.
