A security review of TxtCipher, a dependency-free HTML encryption tool, reveals RC4 keystream reuse issues inherent to TxtCrypt compatibility, recommending AES-256 for general use. The AES mode now uses a versioned header with iteration count as authenticated data, allowing PBKDF2 iterations to be raised without breaking old ciphertexts.
