Microsoft Entra Just Made Passwordless MFA Registration Easier
Read OriginalMicrosoft announces two updates (MC1450133, MC1450134) to Microsoft Entra that remove barriers to passwordless authentication. Users can now register passwordless credentials (passkeys, FIDO2, Windows Hello, macOS Platform SSO, Authenticator) as their first MFA method, eliminating the need for weaker methods. Additionally, Windows Hello for Business and macOS Platform SSO will count as standalone MFA factors in step-up and Authentication Strength scenarios. Rollouts begin in late 2026, with phased deployment. This simplifies passwordless adoption and reduces MFA downgrade risks.
