Mermaid to ASCII art (mermaid-ascii)

This article describes a browser-based tool that converts Mermaid diagram syntax into ASCII and Unicode box-drawing art. It uses a Go library compiled to WebAssembly, allowing all processing to happen client-side. The tool supports flowcharts with labeled edges, subgraphs, and color definitions, as well as sequence diagrams with notes and control flow fragments. Customizable padding and output options are included. The author compares this implementation to an older, more feature-rich Go library by AlexanderGrooff/mermaid-ascii, which also supports colors. The article is a technical showcase of a tool built for developers working with diagramming or ASCII art generation.
