Celebrating GNOME Newcomers’ contributions

Read Original

This article describes a project to automate the recognition of newcomers contributing to the GNOME project. The author used the GitLab API to fetch user and project data, then identified newcomers based on contributions made within the last 15 days. Contributions are filtered by merge requests and issues, and a JSON report is generated. The process runs daily via GitLab CI, helping the GNOME Engagement team celebrate and broadcast these achievements on social media.
