SQL Server Table Designer Bug With Filtered Unique Index

Read Original

This technical article details a bug in SQL Server Management Studio's Table Designer (tested on 2008R2). When a table has a unique filtered index and is altered in a way that requires a table recreation (like adding a column not at the end), the designer's generated script omits the index's WHERE filter. This can cause incorrect duplicate key errors during the save operation or silently corrupt the index's intended behavior, allowing duplicate data it was meant to prevent.
